@Aloyalgamer I was explaining what Linux was in the video, I don't care about being technical, okay? I was telling him what Linux is as it pertains to this video, and in this video Linux is considered an operating system. They do not say GNU/Linux. They say Linux. Here's a short definition. :) Linux refers to the family of Unix-like computer operating systems using the Linux kernel.

@EWRMusicVideos Linux is not an operating system, it is a kernel, which is part of an operating system. GNU/Linux mentioned together refers to all of the Linux distros as a whole, like Ubuntu, Fedora, RedHat, Gentoo, etc. Those are operating systems. Linux itself is not an operating system unless if you refer to it as GNU/Linux.

@blackkbear Linux is a GNU License operating system that is free. It can play games using a free program, it can make videos using a free program, it can do graphics editting using a free program, it can do office documents using a free program. All in all, Linux can do everything. It takes more experience, but it is more capable and less resource hungry than competing operating systems

@blackkbear It's an Operating System, like Windows and Mac, And Mac is based on UNIX so it's not too unsimiliar.... Also, LINUX is 3000 times better

@Jevon177 Vista sucks!!! I'm a Mac guy but I have used windows and XP and 7 are fine but vista is crap!!! My advice is at least upgrade to windows 7. -GO MAC!!!

I've always had Windows, I don't want to edit movies and things I just like playing games, surfing and watching movies, Windows does all that for me, Macs are good but I'll always prefer my good old Vista, Linux I can't say as barely anyone I know has even heard of them let alone has them. It depends what you want your computer to do which Operating System suits it. And that blue screen then.. Its been years since I saw that xD

@staticrubber dude all three of them have their own operating systems but Linux is the only one that doesn't have its own computer. they have taken ideas from each ohter but they are not the same

I do all my music/production with linux, I also use vector design and photo editing programs. It never hangs, it always runs smooth, I'm never going back to windows shit...and mac, maybe when I'm rich, fucking aristocrat OS.

If there were no Linux, servers would suck.

@travelingmaniac All depends on what you grew with. I grew with Windows, and am happy I stuck with it and bought Windows 7.

@krentzie Sorry, Windows runs on a proprietary NT Kernel, which is made by Microsoft, but yeah inspired from "UNIX" which is the core of Mac OSX. Linux Kernel is made by Linus Torvalds, and it tries to mimic the "UNIX". There is no relation between Windows and Linux. There could be some similiarities between Linux and Mac as the latter is certified UNIX operating system and Linux is a Unix-like operating system.

@krentzie not true, mac runs is unix (and if anything more bsd) based meanwhile windows is completely different. Just because they share similar cli functions (bash etc) does not mean the kernel base is the same.

@blackkbear google ubuntu linux its a free operating system its very fast runs 95% of all pc applications, and ones that don't work there is there own software that's way better!!!
